Being Unemployed: Stop smelling the roses

Ah...I feel like Kevin Costner in Dances with Wolves. I eat when I'm hungry, sleep when I'm tired, and shower when I can't stomach the smell of myself. It's a beautiful life. NOT!!!!!

I'm think I'm literally going crazy. I've always talked to myself, but now, I'm telling me to shut up more and more because I'm started to annoy myself. And there's plenty to do around here. I moved in almost two years ago and still haven't completely unpacked yet. I have piles of things to give away from my last unpacking project and haven't taken them away yet. I haven't dusted in months. But none of these things will ever get done because I'm just too lazy to do them.

I figured out years ago that I do not function well without a schedule. I need a specific time to get up, go to sleep and places to go. I need a job that I depend on or else I wouldn't go to it.

I've stopped and smelled the roses. They smell fine. Now, I need to get out of the meadow and go back to the office or else someone will need to lock me up for my own safety.

How much time you have is up to you

My mother tells me that people want shorter things to read. My blog is too long, chapters are too long, etc. (Too many short chapters bug me) She says that people are busy "these days" and don't have time to read long things. That's crap.

It's what you make time for. People have plenty of time - they choose what to do with it. Whether it's work 70+ hours a week, garden, play golf, do endless amounts of crack, computer stuff - or read. You have the time...you choose.

It's all about prioritizing. If you value, as I do, reading, you miss other things to do it. Such as, raising your children, eating, sleeping, work, etc. The things that are important to you will come to the forefront and the less important will just be undone.

For instance, if eating is important, you would do that first. For me, watching TV is usually number one. Then, I eat. Then, hours later, shower. That's my list. Playing poker online, reading and chain smoking are usually crammed in there somewhere between the TV and showering. Sue me, I prioritize.
